Unlike conventional sites, Óireachtas.ie is used not only as a source of information for the general public but as a work tool for many people in government and the public sector. For these people, it can be thought of as more of a work application than a run of the mill website. A constant source of reference and guidance in their daily lives. The old Óireachtas website had become quite dated and difficult to maintain.
The site itself contained hundreds of thousands of pages of content dating back to the formation of the first Dáil. Think of every meeting and government sitting from every week, month, year and decade since then being captured in text format. It was a mammoth task to arrange and present back in a format that could help workers and the public alike to have easy access to this knowledge.
Typography is paramount.
Modern Heritage: The history of the Houses of the Óireachtas needed to come through in a modern way. Our Creative Direction must enhance these qualities and bring them to the fore.
More details to come. Work in progress...
